How to Take Care of Your New Car During the First Thousand Kilometers

Every New Thing We Buy Requires Effort

Every new thing we buy should make enough efforts; in order for it to look new, workable and perform its functions to the fullest, including new cars. If a person can buy a new car, why can't he take care of it so that his money doesn't go to waste? But there are always people who offer to buy a car and then leave it and neglect it without giving it enough care. In this case there will be a waste of money, and the loss will be significant due to spending a lot of money to buy a modern car and then his inattention to what he spent.

The New Car is a Masterpiece of Our Life

A car is one of the most beautiful things that can be owned according to financial ability. Besides being a beautiful thing, it serves us in terms of mobility, performing household and job tasks as well, in addition to the comfort it gives to those who own it in terms of easy access to the places they want. People describe owning a new car as a real masterpiece in life in terms of the services it provides, and in terms of feeling proud to own the latest technologies used in vehicles nowadays.

Give the Engine a Long Life

Despite the great progress in technology and smart devices reached by the automotive industry, the car in the first period of its use still requires special care to give the engine a longer life and better performance.

The Importance of the Softening Period for Modern Cars

The moving parts of the motor need an adjustment period before reaching normal operating conditions, so the softening period is important. The softening period includes leveling the piston rings and making sure that the bearings and cylinders work evenly, but not only the engine that needs to be lubricated, the transmission, tires, and brakes also benefit from this. The German Technical Authority for quality control (Tuv Sud) has recommended that you follow some measures and tips on how to handle the new car in its first 1000 kilometers on the road.

Keep the Engine Safe

Keep the engine of the new car from fully pressing the gas pedal during the first 1,000 kilometers, so as not to damage parts in the engine such as corrosion of a large area of cylinders and their lack of tightness, which results in high oil consumption and reduced engine life. The Pistons and cylinders of modern engines are designed with extreme precision, which makes it unnecessary to change the oil early, which was done to remove corroded metal particles from the oil.

For a gasoline engine, do not allow the RPMs meter to exceed 2500 for the first 1000 km. After that, you can increase the limit to 3000 up to 1500 km, gradually increasing it to the maximum by 2,500 km.

For a diesel engine, do not allow the RPMs meter to exceed 2200 for the first 1,000 km. After that, you can increase the limit to 2,500 - 2,800 rpm up to 1,500 km. Then, gradually increase to a maximum of 2500 km.

Tires and Brakes

Tires also need to travel a distance of about 150 km; until they fully stick to the road. The reason for this is that the tire rubber is provided with an insulating grease that helps to separate the tire from the molding during the production process.

New brakes also require some time to work at full capacity, the brake linings and discs must be lubricated for some time; because the brakes do not do their job well at first, which is a big danger in the early days of the car, especially with tires that are often slippery.
